Envelope Clutch
June 2015
This looked a pretty simple project, which I initially tried to complicate a bit by adding flaps to the side seams to make the clutch expandable. When I couldn't figure out how to sew it together without having raw edges show on the inside, though, I scrapped that idea, cut off the flaps, and went with this.
I love how the yellow lining shows up almost like piping from the outside. I'm planning to add a yellow button and snap or magnetic closure, although I realize that I can't do that without it showing unless I cover it with the button. I folded paper to make a pattern for next time then sewed. I have to fix the point of the flap. It bunches and isn't shaped well.
I also wish the rows of squares lined up with the edge of the clutch. I tried to make it line up, but I just couldn't do it. I'll try to cut better next time.
