A-Line Skirts
Project #4: A-Line Skirt with a Zipper
June 2015
I used a commercial pattern for this, but I think I sewed in from the side seam because the skirt looked too full on the end.
As you can tell, I messed up on the zipper. I guess I mismeasured or something. The zipper doesn't go up high enough. I attached a small hook and eye closure at the top, but it still leaves a gap and looks odd. But, I think my invisible zipper looked pretty good.
Again, my seams looks so messy and ugly. I'm just not quite sure what to do lots of times when I get to ends of pieces of fabric :P
Project #5: Another A-Line Skirt with Zipper and Pleats
June 2015
This is pretty much the same as Project #4 but with two pleats in the front. I actually didn't think to make pleats until the end, so I think I did them wrong. I put them in after I had already attached the interfacing, which makes the top of the skirt pretty thick. I'll have to think this through a little better next time and do it the right way.
I did a slightly better job of getting the zipper higher up, but it is also a white zipper that is fairly noticeable on my blue skirt. I only had a white zipper at the time, so I went with it.
I also didn't think through the pleats enough because I ran out of fabric on the front panel. The zipper became a bit too far to the front.
