Hippo Clutch for Ali

While in Japan, I found this cute hippo fabric that I thought would be perfect to make something for my sister, the Hippo (It's a term of endearment).

I didn't have a pattern but found some way to do the pleats and lining.  I think the pleats are too shallow.  They looked good when I pressed them, but they unfold too easily because they're so shallow.  Next time, I'll make them deeper.

Lining is a whole 'nother story.  It got really confusing trying to figure out how to sew the lining onto the zipper and have it the right side out.  I ended up having to hand sew the top of the lining onto the zipper, and, well, you can see how that went :(

All in all, though, it's still a cute little pouch with a functional zipper.  Every time I look at the hippos showing their butts, it makes me smile.  Hope the Hippo likes it.
